Road rules and access conditions may change. Check official local sources, road conditions and your rental terms before travel.

Before collecting your car

Check the driver licence requirements for your residence, the driver age rules and the rental supplier deposit. Confirm any cross-border travel in writing before planning a trip into another country.

Tolls and highways

Spain has a mix of free and tolled motorways. Verify the route and current road charges rather than assuming all AP roads are tolled. Keep your payment option accessible and follow signage.

Urban driving

Some cities have low-emission zones and traffic restrictions. Read current city rules and ask your rental provider whether a particular vehicle is eligible before entering restricted areas.

Parking and mountain routes

Use marked parking spaces, allow enough room on narrow rural routes and check the weather forecast if driving in mountain regions. Never treat a road-trip estimate as a guaranteed arrival time.
